first aid for a stroke patient
my cousin, when he dropped off his two kids at our house for my sister's photo shoot, told us yesterday that my uncle had a stroke the other day. it happened in the morning, as my uncle was about to get up from bed and he couldn't move (he's in polymedic now, still his old joking self).
i instantly remembered an email i received about the first aid one should give if someone had a stroke. i'm not sure if it works, but heck, there's nothing to lose in sharing.
this first aid came from a Chinese traditional doctor (and we all know the alternative medicines the Chinese have up their sleeve :)
first, don't move the person who just suffered from the stroke, just let him/her sit up. get a needle or pin, sterilize it by putting over fire (putting it in the flame of a candle will do) and prick the tips of all ten fingers of the victim. let the blood come out. if the mouth of the victim is still crooked after he/she has regained consciousness, pull both ear lobes (until they are red) and prick each lobe twice.
i've never tried this, so i'm not sure. of course, if nothing happens, best to call an ambulance!
